About Venerable Luang Pu Thong Dee...

We arrived in Wat MaiPhlaiHuay, Pichit on the 18th April 2011 (2554), about 5pm local time. Weather then was hot, I looked around the temple, still much renovations and buildings on going but it was a beautiful temple. Seeing it with my own eyes now, it increases further my curiosity and anticipation of meeting Venerable.

It was my first visit to meet Venerable Luang Pu Thong Dee of Wat MaiPhlaiHuay in Pichit. My close friends have been visiting him for over the past 5 years and I have heard much of the mysticism of Venerable from them. In fact, though located in a remote village in Pichit outskirts, Venerable have many followers and disciples from all over the country and abroad. Some are well-known artist and celebrities.

Just a brief introduction of Ven.'s background. Some may be wondering, why do I keep referring Venerable as Luang Pu (very old, usually more then 70 years of age) and not Luang Phor. Maybe the photo was very long ago!

No...not true. In fact, that photo was taken on the same day, after obtaining permission from Venerable. Though Venerable's body is about 50 years of age but the mind/soul that is in the body (the real Luang Pu Thong Dee) is more than 100 years of age. The purpose of the real LP Thong Dee coming back is to develope the temple and built a hospital. Today the temple is a tourist attraction in Pichit and the hospital is operational.  (See About WatMaiPhlaiHuay page for more photos!).

A karmic connection and an act of fate has brought the two LP Thong Dee together and the rest was history. Some of  the current LP Thong Dee's close Dhamma scholars (studied together) have commented that the current LP Thong Dee doesn't regconised them plus his appearance and mannerism are totally different.

Venerable Luang Pu Thong Dee seldom make amulets because Venerable is of meditation lineage. However Ven. does make some for merits making purposes (See Amulets Gallery). Due to his meditative absorption and attainments, Venerable is endowed with abilities to see future. Many visitors and followers visit Ven. to seek guidance in their daily life affairs.

Though Venerable has been conferred the title of Chao Khun, Ven. has relinquished his post of Abbot to concentrate on his objectives.
